Nate’s Monday Morning Message Volume 1,299: Presence Over Perfection
Welcome to this week’s Monday Morning Message! I hope you are enjoying the holiday season so far and ready to embrace one more shopping weekend! The pressure to make the “perfect” holiday can steal the very thing we’re all hoping for: connection. This week let’s choose presence over perfection, with clients, family, and ourselves. People won’t remember a flawless schedule or a picture-perfect table; they’ll remember how you made them feel.
A few simple cues to keep us grounded:
- Prioritize people, not polish. One sincere conversation beats three rushed errands.
- Leave margin. Protect a little white space in the calendar so you can say “yes” to what matters in the moment.
- Show up simply. A thoughtful call, handwritten note, or quick check-in carries more weight than a complicated plan.
As we put the final touches on the big day coming up soon, may this week be full of meaningful moments, not perfect ones. Let’s make it a great week!
ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER
A mysterious gift
My husband has had dementia for almost a decade. He has almost no short-term memory. He can no longer read, use a phone, or use a credit card. Six years ago when the Christmas catalogs came, I saw a tablecloth I wanted, but it was sold out. On Christmas morning, there was an unwrapped box under the tree. Somehow my husband had found the right catalog, the right tablecloth, called them and convinced them to find a tablecloth to send in time for Christmas. I won’t ever know how he did it, but it was the best gift ever. —Roberta Sampere, Dolgeville, New York

WORDS OF INSPIRATION
“Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.” - William Arthur Ward
“For it is in giving that we receive.” - Francis of Assisi
“I think cookies are sort of the unsung sweet, you know? They’re incredibly popular. But everybody thinks of cakes and pies and fancier desserts before they think cookies. A plate of cookies is a great way to end dinner and really nice to share at the holidays.” - Bobby Flay
